Welcome to Base Camp #206

We are so excited to be your Seattle area Base Camp! We are looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing all the fun activities we have planned for throughout the year.

Ok, but what is Quilt Scouts?

No more stitching solo! Every quilter needs a troop to lean on when their bobbin runs out mid-stitch or they need a second opinion on color combos. Quilt Scouts connects you with a troop of quilters who are always ready to share a laugh, swap project ideas, and even commiserate over a rebellious thread knot or bigger “oops” moments (hello, backwards blocks!). It’s the ultimate quilting support system and the perfect place to grow your skills while having fun. Using the Circle community you will be able to interact with scouts across the country and overseas about our shared love of quilting.

And a Base Camp?

A Quilt Scouts Base Camp is a place where quilters can gather in person, sew together, earn badges, and build community—all with the spirit of adventure and creativity that Quilt Scouts is known for. We will tailor our program to reflect what our members want all while making new friends and learning.

Our meetings aren’t just about earning badges, although they are fun, they’re about acknowledging the new skills you learned as you continuously hone your craft. They’re about showing off what you’ve made and are still making with likeminded individuals who can instantly understand and recognize all the thought and work that you’ve put into your projects. It’s a place where you can get advice when you’re struggling or just support that you will be able to figure it out. And sometimes they’re about laughing at the silly mistakes you made, knowing that at some point we all have probably done the same. (Or will do in the future.) It’s not about fixating on perfection (you decide what level of perfection you want, although we may try and talk you down at times) or making something because you feel obligated to. We create because we enjoy the process – if all we wanted was a blanket then we would just buy one. And there’s definitely no Quilt Police here!

You do need to be a member in good standing in order to attend in person events. This means you are up to date on your dues using a monthly or yearly subscription plan. (You can sign up by clicking on the link below.)

Quilt Scout membership dues are in addition to meeting/class fees. Meeting fees go towards enhancing the in person experience which may include guest speakers or supplies.

Please take a moment to fill out our survey so that we can learn more about what you want to see happen during our Base Camp meetings. This includes deciding when our weekday meeting will take place.

Base Camp 206 Meeting days
Our Base Camp #206 meetings will be on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:30 am. (First meeting will be on April 11th.)

Due to the high amount of interest at the intro meetings last week, we are looking into adding a weekday option as well and want to see what works best for people.

Would you prefer to attend a weekend or weekday meeting?*

You will not be locked into one option for attending meetings. If you have a conflict on your regular meeting day, you will have the option to attend the other session.

For those interested in a weekday Base Camp meeting, which day would you prefer?

For those interested in a weekday Base Camp meeting, which day would you prefer?

Please only answer if you would prefer to meet during the week. We lose elevator access at 2:30 pm, if you select an afternoon meeting and arrive before the cutoff time we will be able to give you a lift up. However, after the meeting you would need to take the stairs.

Badges
At each base camp meeting we will work towards earning that month's badge. As a group we will decide if we want to receive our badges at the meeting or in the mail.

Your Quilt Scout membership allows you to receive one free badge each month directly from Quilt Scouts. You will use that month's code while placing your order at quiltscouts.com to receive it through the mail.

If we chose to receive our badges at our meetings, the badge cost will be included in the meeting fee and you will still be able to receive a free badge in the mail. (You do not have to order the current month's badge, the code will apply to the badge of your choice.)

Additional badges will be available for purchase at our meetings.

July's Meeting Badge
We will be subbing in a different badge for July and want to know what your preference is. The scheduled badge is Shop Hop and that isn't a program we are participating in this year. Rather than skip this month entirely and have it be a "choose your own (quilty) adventure" we came up with a few options for the month. Most of the badges have not been assigned to a particular month and are included as extra badges that scouts can work towards on their own.
