Stitch 150: Knitting Basics
Ever try learning to knit on your own but just ended up with a bunch of knots? And yes, it could be said that knitting is just a bunch of fancy knots, but that’s not what you ended up with. In class you will learn all the basics including how to cast on, create knit and purl stitches, increases and decreases and bind off. Along the way you will learn how to read a pattern while making simple washcloths. The best part about learning on a washcloth is that size doesn’t matter, it still works regardless of if you made gauge or not. (Yes, we will go over what that means, why it’s important and how to adjust for it.)
SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER
PREREQUISITE: No experience necessary.

| Instructor Bio: | Erin learned to sew as a kid and was always crafty but didn't really get fully into sewing until after college. After making a few rather involved Halloween costumes she realized she could make clothes to wear every day, not just at the end of October. Eventually this led to her going back to school for fashion design and construction and teaching classes for over 6 years. Her main focus may be garment sewing, but she has also worked on accessories, home decor and quilting. Basically, if it involves fabric, thread, yarn, or other similar craft supplies she probably does it on a semi regular basis. Except projects involving hot glue, she does try to stay away from those. |
