Garment 213: Wrap Dresses

It’s hard to think of a more versatile style than a wrap dress. Appropriate for almost every occasion and comfortable to wear as you can control how tightly the ties are pulled. We have included our favorite patterns which can be sewn in a wide range of fabrics. Even better, there aren’t any fiddly buttonholes or zippers to sew. Choose your favorite style dress or it would also be easy to shorten into a top if desired.

Elodie features a softly flowing bodice, with release pleats under the bust and a dolman style sleeve. Choose between a short sleeve or a longer, more formal option that ends at the elbow. The skirt is swishy and voluminous and comes in three lengths, above the knee, midi or maxi, with optional patch pockets.

The Wildwood Wrap Dress is a shawl collar wrap dress with a detachable belt. It features waist and shoulder pleats, a slim skirt and deep pockets. Two sleeve options and two hem lengths give you several options to make your Wildwood Wrap Dress your own.

The Charli Anne Wrap Dress was designed for everyday elegance. Perfect to wear to a beach wedding, or on a girls night out. This dress features a flutter sleeve or sleeveless option, front and back darts, and a lovely maxi tulip hem.

The Mimi G wrap dress has asymmetrical details, view b with outside contrast bodice facing. Dress has wide hem facings & is above knee length with self-ties.

Instructor: Erin Hubner
Instructor Bio: Erin learned to sew as a kid and was always crafty but didn't really get fully into sewing until after college. After making a few rather involved Halloween costumes she realized she could make clothes to wear every day, not just at the end of October. Eventually this led to her going back to school for fashion design and construction and teaching classes for over 6 years. Her main focus may be garment sewing, but she has also worked on accessories, home decor and quilting. Basically, if it involves fabric, thread, yarn, or other similar craft supplies she probably does it on a semi regular basis. Except projects involving hot glue, she does try to stay away from those.
