Silk and other slinky fabrics feel amazing however can be frustrating to work with. We will go over how to handle these luxurious and tricky fabrics while making a silk pillowcase. Areas covered will include cutting, seam finishes and what pins and needles are best to use. During class we will also discuss additional techniques to give you a nice background of knowledge to tackle future projects.
Sleeping on a silk pillowcase provides some wonderful benefits for your skin and hair such as helping your skin retain moisture and avoid fine lines, in addition to helping avoid hair damage and tangles. As a bonus you will be able to make two pillows out of your yardage – one to keep as a backup or share with a good friend.

Instructor: | Erin Hubner |
Instructor Bio: | Erin learned to sew as a kid and was always crafty but didn't really get fully into sewing until after college. After making a few rather involved Halloween costumes she realized she could make clothes to wear every day, not just at the end of October. Eventually this led to her going back to school for fashion design and construction and teaching classes for over 6 years. Her main focus may be garment sewing, but she has also worked on accessories, home decor and quilting. Basically, if it involves fabric, thread, yarn, or other similar craft supplies she probably does it on a semi regular basis. Except projects involving hot glue, she does try to stay away from those. |
