DESCRIPTION:In this class you will learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine and what the accessories that came with it are for. Those skills will then be put into use to make both an envelope and a zipper pillow. We will provide sewing machines and basic sewing supplies for you to use. If you have a sewing machine lurking at home that you want to learn how to use\, please make sure it is in working order before class and bring your manual. \nAll our sewing machines are of the highest quality\, generously supplied by Quality Sewing! SUMMARY:Garment 204: Flat Front Pants & Shorts (Series 1/2)
DESCRIPTION:*** This is the first day of a two day class that takes place on Thursday\, October 22nd & 29th *** \nTo attend this class please register below. Unfortunately\, it isn’t possible to attend class on a single day out of a series. \nThe Pietra and Emerson pants & shorts are the best of both worlds; a flat front\, mid or high-waisted silhouette with the comfort of an elastic waist in the back. Both patterns give you a polished look and are so comfortable you’ll never want to take them off. The Ramblers are designed specifically for men and include the same pull-on comfort and an elastic waistband that extends all the way around. \nThe Pietras feature lengthening panels in the front with slanted hip pockets and a hidden waist stay. Choose between four leg styles: a wide leg in floor-skimming or cropped length\, a slim and tapered leg\, or gently flared shorts. \nThe Emersons have front pleats and slanted side pockets with the option of a mid rise that hits just below the natural waist or a high rise that sits over the belly button. Choose between shorts or a cropped wide leg. You can also learn how to alter the pattern into full length pants. \nThe Ramblers were designed to be loose without being baggy and feature a faux fly\, slightly tapered legs\, slanted side pockets and back patch pockets. They also include a built-in belt and optional side patch pockets. \nFit is always important\, especially with pants\, so we will start off the first day of class sewing a test version to try on and see if any adjustments are needed to be made to the pattern to fit you better. Once we’re satisfied with the fit\, we will start working on our final versions confident that when completed our pants (or shorts) will look amazing. \nSKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE\nYou should have previous machine sewing experience and have completed several garments. SUMMARY:Quilting 101: Basics Wednesday (Session 3/5)
DESCRIPTION:**This is the third class of a series of five sessions. Class takes place on Friday\, October 9th\, 16th & 23rd from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm and November 6th & 13th from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Unfortunately\, it isn’t possible to attend class on a single day out of a series. \nAre you interesting in getting started with cosplay or just want a fun animal onesie to wear? The Kigurumi pattern from //Cut/Sew is a great place to start. It includes pattern pieces to make a cat\, rabbit or bear\, however during class we will discuss how to use it as a base for other animals. \nOn the first day we cut out our patterns and if wanted\, make modifications to personalize your project. This may include creating additional pattern pieces for other animals\, such as a fox store sample. You will also have the chance to try it on to decide if you want to make any adjustments to how it fits. (Please note that the suit is supposed to have a loose fit.) We will next start cutting out your fabric\, paying attention to grainline and if your fabric has additional attributes to pay attention to during cutting. \nOn the second day we will continue working on our onesies\, sewing the pieces together and making adjustments as necessary. We will discuss seam finishes and techniques to both make the process easier and give you an amazing looking result. \n* If you would like facial details on your hood to be embroidered\, you will learn more about the options after signing up for class. SUMMARY:Stitch 102: Sashiko
DESCRIPTION:Sashiko is the Japanese art of visible mending and has been around for hundreds of years. Traditionally done with white thread on indigo fabric\, it creates intricate and timeless designs using repetitive stitches. More modern interpretations include using colored thread and more contemporary designs.
