SUMMARY:Quiltbound Chapter #206 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:July Badge: Scrappy Quilt \n \nThe Scrappy Quilt Badge celebrates making something beautiful\, useful\, and full of personality from leftover fabric. This badge invites members to sort through scraps\, pull together a plan\, and turn small pieces into a quilted project that feels resourceful\, playful\, and completely one of a kind. \nDuring this meeting we will highlight projects and ways to use all those little scraps we have been saving/hoarding. (And possibly determine how small is too small for a fabric scrap to be usable.) Storage and organization options and ideas will be discussed and I’d love for you to share what works for you. We will also be doing a scrap swap so please bring your scraps! This is a great way to either offload your scraps to someone who will happily use them or increase the variety you have to make a future project more interesting. Either way they won’t be taking up valuable space in your sewing area gathering dust. \nQuiltbound is a creative quilting world for adventurous makers — a place to learn new skills\, make meaningful projects\, find your people\, and take the scenic route through quilting. Along the way you’ll earn badges as you complete themed challenges\, try new techniques\, and explore different areas of quilting. Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or just starting out\, there’s something for everyone! \nEach month is a badge based quilting adventure designed to help you build skills\, stay motivated and celebrate progress – without pressure or perfection.  Each  Chapter meeting is a local gathering of quilters who want more than just finishing projects—they want connection\, creativity\, and a reason to show up. \nWhy should you join? Quilting is more fun with friends\, goals\, and a little adventure! Start your journey today and stitch your way to badge-worthy achievements! \nMeetings will take place on the second Saturday OR third Thursday at 10:30 each month. Please remember to sign up for each month’s meeting. \nPlease remember that meetings are exclusively for Quilt Scout members and you need to be current on your national dues. \nIf you would like to bring a guest\, you will need register for both of you. Guests are allowed to attend a single meeting before signing up with the national organization. Meeting fees are in addition to your national dues. \nLearn more about Quiltbound and join here. \nWhat You’ll Get as a Quiltbound Member \n\nExclusive tutorials and patterns\nMonthly Show-and-Tell Sessions where you can share your projects and gain inspiration.\nEarn Your Badges as you master new quilting challenges.\nExclusive opportunities and discounts at Pacific Fabrics just for Chapter #206 members.

SUMMARY:Kids 250: Fashion Design (Session 1/5)
DESCRIPTION:*** This is the first day of a five day class that takes place July 27th – 31st. *** \n\nTo attend this class please register below. Unfortunately\, it isn’t possible to attend class on a single day out of a series. \nIt’s time to release your inner fashionista! We start with how designers work: creating mood boards\, designing and editing until they decide which final design they will make. We then have the store to ourselves so they can pick out their fabrics within the budget that we help them create. After that\, the fashion game is afoot and each child will make their own unique design that fits their personal style and fabulous self. No experience necessary and all supplies/fun will be provided. \nWe are so excited about our partnership with Made Sewing Studio and offering sewing classes for kids! Made Sewing is a local company that has offered quality sewing classes with a focus on teaching elementary school aged children since 2010. All classes have been carefully designed with children in mind to ensure a fun\, creative and safe experience. \nSKILL LEVEL: KIDS BEGINNER \nAGE LEVEL: Ages 9 and above \nPREREQUISITE: No experience necessary \nAll supplies are included. \nPlease bring a bottle of water and a snack. \nBefore you register\, please CLICK HERE to read all of our class policies. \nClass fees are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by the store. \nDue to changes in Washington State tax law (ESSB 5814) live presentations\, including classes\, are now subject to sales tax. \nYou will receive a 20% discount off a purchase the day of class with your registration receipt. SUMMARY:Quiltbound Chapter #206 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:August Badges: Upcycle a Quilt & Quilt Repair \n \nThe Upcycle a Quilt Badge celebrates giving an old\, damaged\, unfinished\, or unused quilt a new purpose. This badge is about creative problem-solving\,  sustainability\, and turning something that might otherwise sit forgotten into something useful\, wearable\, decorative\, or loved again. \nThe Quilt Repair Badge celebrates the practical\, caring work of helping a quilt live a longer life. This badge invites members to look closely at a damaged or worn quilted item\, choose an appropriate repair approach\, and make at least one thoughtful fix. It is part problem-solving\, part preservation\, and part tiny textile rescue mission. \nThis month is all about giving those old\, worn or abandoned quilts and quilt tops a glow up. We will go over some of the most common areas where quilts tend to wear out and how to preserve them – it’s not just about hiding the damage. Projects that start with quilts at all levels of completion and fabric condition will be covered. It’s time for out of the box thinking and experimentation. We will even briefly dip a toe into the murky world of t-shirt quilts. \nI know there are a lot of strong opinions regarding repurposing and cutting up old quilts. I like to remember that our quilting ancestors started making quilts more out of necessity rather than a hobby. It was all about not wasting expensive and precious fabric and giving worn out textiles (often clothing) a new life which is exactly what upcycling is. If you can’t bear the idea of cutting into something you or a family member has made\, check out local thrift stores and give a discarded quilt a new life. But please leave any haunted quilts where you found them! (I may have found one in our backroom… Eep!) \nFeel free to keep bringing in fabric and scraps to each meeting to share and/or swap. Anything that isn’t claimed will be donated to Project Linus. \nDue to changes in Washington State tax law (ESSB 5814) live presentations\, including classes\, are now subject to sales tax.
