SUMMARY:Quilt Scouts Base Camp #206 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:May Badge: Quilting Bee \n \nThe Quilting Bee Badge celebrates the community spirit of quilting and the tradition of working together to create quilts. This badge encourages  scouts to participate in collaborative quilting efforts and experience the joy of creating something greater than any individual could achieve alone. \nDuring the meeting we will be working on two projects – name tags and blocks for Project Linus. \nFor the name tags we will be using the Ruby Star Society Selvedge Magic Letters fabric. We will select the letters we need for our name and make a little mini quilt with a pin back. Tiny ransom note style name tags for everyone! \nProject Linus is a wonderful charity that provides handmade blankets to children 0-18 in the United States who are seriously ill\, traumatized\, or otherwise in need. I was thinking of creating blocks that would appeal to boys and older kids as they don’t always receive as many blankets for these groups. \nThe themes for the quilts are going to be dragons and under the sea. (I did a staff poll and this is what we came up with.) Both prints will work with a variety of bright colors\, making it easier to pull fabrics for coordinating blocks. \n                                                                      \nBaby Dragons Timeless Treasures                                                                           Tides of Color by Hoffman Fabrics \nBlocks need to be 12 inch squares finished (12 1/2 inches unfinished) and you can use any techniques you would like. If you’re not sure what to do\, I’d recommend Moda Fabrics Blockhead programs which include a variety of blocks created by their fabric designers. I’m including a link to Blockheads 5 which focused on 12 inch blocks. (If you would like to use a different series\, please doublecheck block size.) In addition to handy\, easy to read PDFs for each block\, the second group also includes videos on how to sew it together. There will be supplies (including six sewing machines) available for use during the meeting\, however you can always bring your own supplies or any finished blocks. \nQuilt Scouts is a fun and inspiring program designed to build your sewing skills\, spark your creativity\, and connect you with a community of fellow quilters. Just like traditional scouting\, you’ll earn badges as you complete themed challenges\, try new techniques\, and explore different areas of quilting. Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or just starting out\, there’s something for everyone! \nEach month is a badge based quilting adventure designed to help you build skills\, stay motivated and celebrate progress – without pressure or perfection. Along the way\, you’ll collect badges\, share your progress\, and celebrate your accomplishments with other Quilt Scouts. \nWhy should you join? Quilting is more fun with friends\, goals\, and a little adventure! Start your journey today and stitch your way to badge-worthy achievements! \nMeetings will take place on the second Saturday OR third Thursday at 10:30 each month. Please remember to sign up for each month’s meeting. \nPlease remember that meetings are exclusively for Quilt Scout members and you need to be current on your national dues. \nIf you would like to bring a guest\, you will need register for both of you. Guests are allowed to attend a single meeting before signing up with the national organization. Meeting fees are in addition to your national dues. \nLearn more about Quilt Scouts and join here. \nWhat You’ll Get as a Quilt Scout Member \n\nExclusive tutorials and patterns\nMonthly Show-and-Tell Sessions where you can share your projects and gain inspiration.\nEarn Your Badges as you master new quilting challenges.\nExclusive opportunities and discounts at Pacific Fabrics just for Base Camp #206 members.

SUMMARY:Garment 204: Flat Front Pants & Shorts (Series 1/2)
DESCRIPTION:*** This is the first day of a two day class that takes place on Tuesday\, May 12th & 19th *** \nTo attend this class please register below. Unfortunately\, it isn’t possible to attend class on a single day out of a series. \nThe Pietra and Emerson pants & shorts are the best of both worlds; a flat front\, mid or high-waisted silhouette with the comfort of an elastic waist in the back. Both patterns give you a polished look and are so comfortable you’ll never want to take them off. The Ramblers are designed specifically for men and include the same pull-on comfort and an elastic waistband that extends all the way around. \nThe Pietras feature lengthening panels in the front with slanted hip pockets and a hidden waist stay. Choose between four leg styles: a wide leg in floor-skimming or cropped length\, a slim and tapered leg\, or gently flared shorts. \nThe Emersons have front pleats and slanted side pockets with the option of a mid rise that hits just below the natural waist or a high rise that sits over the belly button. Choose between shorts or a cropped wide leg. You can also learn how to alter the pattern into full length pants. \nThe Ramblers were designed to be loose without being baggy and feature a faux fly\, slightly tapered legs\, slanted side pockets and back patch pockets. They also include a built-in belt and optional side patch pockets. \nFit is always important\, especially with pants\, so we will start off the first day of class sewing a test version to try on and see if any adjustments are needed to be made to the pattern to fit you better. Once we’re satisfied with the fit\, we will start working on our final versions confident that when completed our pants (or shorts) will look amazing. \nSKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE\nYou should have previous machine sewing experience and have completed several garments. You should be comfortable taking your measurements and using those to read the back of the pattern to determine the necessary supply amounts. Please email erin@pacificfabrics.com if you are unsure if your skill level is appropriate. \nPREREQUISITE: Garment 201 or equivalent experience.\n\nOur elevator is available Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am – 2:30 pm only. \nFind your SUPPLY LIST HERE! \nBefore you register\, please CLICK HERE to read all of our class policies. \nClass fees are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by the store. \nYou will receive a 20% discount for your class supplies with your registration receipt. SUMMARY:Knits 204: Sleeveless Tops & Dresses
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes all you want is a simple knit top without having to deal with separate sleeve pieces. Learn to make a relaxed tee with grown on sleeves and how adding binding and/or facings to a knit garment affects its ability to stretch. In class we will go over determining your size when using low stretch knit fabrics\, how stretchy your stitches truly need to be and easy ways to hem knits. \nThe Max tee is a boxy knit top with a muscle tee shoulder shape and a dropped armhole. Choose between a cropped or hip length finished with hem facings. You have multiple neckline options that include a neck facing\, rib neckband and a mock neckband. \nThe Square Neck Top is a boxy dolman sleeved top with a square neckline. It is slightly cropped and includes front pieces for both A/B and C/D cup sizes. \nKnow Me ME2130 is an oversized men’s crew neck top with dropped shoulders and contrast at the neck and arm bands. \nThe Lodo is an elevated take on a basic t-shirt dress. It has a straight fit through the waist and hips and a slightly tapered hen to create a subtle cocoon shape. It has a V neck at the center front and an extended cap sleeve. Both the neckline and armholes are finished with a woven facing for stability and structure. Make it as a mid-calf or above the knee length dress or shorten it into a casual top. \nSKILL LEVEL: ADVANCED BEGINNER \nPREREQUISITE: Knits 201A/201B or equivalent experience. \nYou should have previous machine sewing experience and have completed a few projects. You should be comfortable taking your measurements and using those to read the back of the pattern to determine the necessary supply amounts. Please email erin@pacificfabrics.com if you are unsure if your skill level is appropriate. \nUnfortunately our elevator isn’t available on Saturdays. \nFind your SUPPLY LIST HERE! \nBefore you register\, please CLICK HERE to read all of our class policies. \nClass fees are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by the store. \nYou will receive a 20% discount for your class supplies with your registration receipt.
