Attention all doll lovers! Young, older or in-between - you MUST drop by our SODO Seattle store for their on-the-wall Dolly Fashion Show. I am loving this because it's right outside my office and even though I am now sort of a "grown-up", I still LOVE dolls. You can tell this by the Shirley Temple doll on my desk. Work days go better with a little friend nearby! (Click on the pictures to see a larger image.) Every month or two, the "girls" at the SODO store work on a Clerks' Spotlight. They choose a book or theme and all make an item for display. This time it's dolly month and there are some 18" dolls out there who are going to look mahvelous, darling! Most of the charming fashions were made from one of our favorite books, Sew Today's Fashions for 18" Dolls. This book is such a super deal. It includes ideas, pictures and full-size patterns for about 12 dolly outfits. (In the picture of the dolly wall above, the little dresses, jumper and skirt all came from this excellent book.) If your dolly is a rural kind of kid, this is just the outfit for them. The shirt pattern is in the Sew Today's Fashions book and the overalls come from Kwik-Sew pattern 2921. For a summer patio party, dolly will want this outfit (straight from the book). Brenda knit this gorgeous little sweater and stitched up the coordinating capris. And, of course, a raincoat and hat are essential in the well-dressed Seattle dolly wardrobe. Stitched from Dr. Seuss Dot laminated cotton, this sweet pair are also made from Kwik-Sew pattern 2921. Looks like you'll want that pattern along with your book! At the end of a fashionable day, dolly will be tired, so be sure to put together this adorable bed and bedding for him or her. From Kwik-Sew's Ellie Mae collection, we just love this pattern! Look for Kwik-Sew pattern 0105, the Sweet Dreams Doll Bed. While you're online and in the dolly mood, check out the other two fashionable books a great for the career minded dolly and you'll like Sew the Contemporary Wardrobe for 18" Dolls , too (check out the jeans jacket). Both of these books, come with full-size patterns for all the outfits, also. The book that the SODO sewists used is available at all of our stores along with the Kwik-Sew patterns. And, we have foam ready for you to use for your Sweet Dreams Bed. Pacific Fabrics - a fashionable dolly's dream come true! Have fun with your dolly sewing and knitting and let me know what you make. I may want to make one, too! ~ Annette |

I love this book because you get so much for the price! I cut all my patterns out of quilter's template plastic and use them over and over. The grey pleated skirt is so cute and the little Asian style dress is perfect in our silk rems. I am sewing and putting away for my granddaughter some day. She is a bit young still for her own Am Girl Doll. I have been known to dress my doll up and tell her how beautiful she is!by gingercat on 02 June 2012 at 9:08 p.m.
