Tuesday Tip - A Quilt Made With Glue?

No Sew Pie to Go booklet

I made a quilt from a new pattern called No Sew Pie to Go by Pie Plate Patterns. This is a “raggy quilt” where all the block edges are left unfinished creating a raggy effect after washing.

Elmer's Glue

Instead of sewing all of the quilt block pieces together, the instructions have you draw grid lines on a background fabric and then glue (yes, I said glue!) the shapes into place. I used Elmer’s Glue but any regular glue is ok as long as it washes out after the quilt is finished.

Stitching Lines on Glued Quilt

When the whole top has been assembled, quilting lines are drawn to mark where the top of the quilt will be stitched down to the batting and backing fabrics.

Pie to Go glued Quilt

To make a quick binding, I made my backing fabric 1 ½ inches larger on all four sides of the quilt. After I finished the quilting I folded each side in half, ¾ of an inch in, and then folded that over and machine stitched in place, creating my binding.

This was such a fun project and fast, fast, FAST!
