Itchin' to Start Stitchin' for the Kitchen

Posted by Annette on Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Some days, I just can't stand the thought of cooking. Know what I mean? But, then I think about new aprons, new hot pads and other perky things I can make for my kitchen and that really lights my cookin' stitchin' fire again. Just a little project goes a long way!

Honeycomb Apron pattern

Crafty Chris is showing so many terrific things for Kitchen stitching at our Christmas in July events, so I picked a few to help you light your cooking fire! Let's start with the Honeycomb Smocked Apron pattern from The Apron Lady. This is really a cool smocking tutorial packaged with a darling apron pattern. I love that! I can learn how to easily smock any fabric and have a new apron at the end. There's a child size version, too, so you can stitch one up for your favorite little cutie.

My Bistro Apron pattern

Here's another totally fun apron. My Bistro Apron pattern from More Splash Than Cash is simple and really easy to assemble. Choose a few coordinating fabrics, plan on about an hour of sewing time and you'll have yourself a really charming convertible apron. And the best part is - the front panel is removeable! Soooo, get as dirty as you like while you're cooking, peel off the front panel, then serve your family in style. So cool and wouldn't it make a great gift?

Grandma Dot's Fruit Pie Hot Pads

Anna-Beth did a blog post about the cutest hot pad I've seen in a long time. In case you missed it, you can see the picture above and click here to read her post. This would be such a yummy gift (pun intended) for your favorite pie baker, pie lover or just about anyone that owns a kitchen. And . . . I found another one at Christmas in July, too. Take a look below.

Fresh & Fruity Hot Pads pattern

Fruit, anyone? I love the adorable, vintage appeal of the Fresh 'n Fruity Hot Pads pattern from Pieceable Pear! These would be fun to make in any print, but can't you just see them in some of our fruit prints? Again, a great gift, but I really think you should try them out in your own kitchen first - don't you agree? The pattern includes three fruits, a butterfly and a bonus tea towel design. Sounds like goooood cookin' to me!

Are you inspired? As if that's not enough, you can browse through more patterns on our stie by clicking here, we still have more Christmas in July events happening this month and you'll find these delicious patterns at all our stores. Time to start cookin'!

P.S. Okay, so you don't cook and none of your friends do either? No problem! EVERYONE loves something new for their kitchen whether they actually cook or not - so stitch, stitch, stitch. The illusion of cooking will be just lovely!

  • Teri - The pie crust is made from muslin, then wide ric-rac is used for the outside crust and yes, we carry all of it. It looks amazingly real doesn't it?
