Eileen's First Quilt - A Bali Pop Story

Eileen waltzed into the office with her first quilt this morning - made from Hoffman's Bali Pop Batik Strips. It's a gift for her sister-in-law who is very ill. She's sending it instead of flowers and I think the patient will love it - don't you?! Regina, our Long Arm quilter, told Eileen how to make this marvelously easy strip quilt, but I must admit I was skeptical when Eileen said she planned to make the quilt in just a couple of days. She did, though, and you can see a close-up above!
This absolutely stunning first quilt was made from just one Bali Pop Strip Pack in Mango Margarita. Eileen started by sewing all the strips together end to end just as Regina told her. Then she cut off the first 18", re-folded, re-stitched and repeated the re-folding and re-stitching process until she had a quilt top. Just that easy! Regina's idea came from a blog written by Heirloom Creations, a sewing store in South Dakota. Click here to read about it and view a fun, inspiring video. Then you can make your own, take a picture and post it on our Brag Photos page. (Hint, hint!) Looks like a great rainy Memorial Day weekend project to me. I can hardly wait to see what you make! |
